Revenue Staff Accountant

The revenue staff accountant is primarily responsible for preparing and facilitating all aspects of the firm’s accounts receivable/revenue accounting cycle. This includes conducting research, performing critical analyses, and skillfully communicating revenue related issues and accounting processes to the accounting department and project leadership. This person will also be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and resolving complex project accounting problems including: identification of underlying issues, recognizing exceptions, and recommending solutions.

Job Title: Revenue Staff Accountant
Department: Finance/HR
Supervisor: Accounting Manager
FLSA: Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and issue monthly project invoices for all firm projects
  2. Prepare monthly revenue recognition work papers in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  3. Prepare accounts receivable aging reports to ensure timely collection of invoices
  4. Prepare work in process aging reports to ensure timely billing of transactions
  5. Review and abstract executed contracts for relevant billing terms and contract amounts
  6. Review project set-up in the accounting/project information system
  7. Research and solve complex consultant invoicing issues
  8. Prepare and facilitate the lien waiver process for applicable projects
  9. Collect, review, and process monthly project accounting reports
  10. Assist and provide backup for accounts payable, payroll, and cash receipts
  11. Assist in project profitability and revenue metrics analysis as assigned
  12. Assist in special projects as assigned
  13. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years accounting experience required
  • Architectural/Engineering/Construction industry experience preferred
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or Deltek for Professional Services preferred
  • Experience with system upgrades and hands-on testing preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Word/Excel)
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including analytical functionality (pivot tables, queries, filtering etc.)
  • Ability to apply professionalism and discretion in handling of confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete duties of position
  • Ability to effectively communicate revenue related issues
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
